Category images sizes should be 300px wide. They currently don’t look perfect on screens under 12.5 inches, or on mobile devices (which really like 350px wide images).
There are ongoing discussions in the Discourse team to make the images auto-resize, or auto- align which would solve these issues, and seems like common sense, so hopefully this topic will be unnecessary soon.
